I offer a temperate, no-nonsense approach to my clients, backed by over 20 years of experience in complex commercial litigation matters including breach of contract, business torts, partnership disputes, employment disputes, and compensation and restrictive covenant disputes.
I have represented numerous companies and individuals in courts throughout the country, in many cases helping to secure victories or otherwise favorable outcomes.
In my current practice, I provide clients peace of mind—an assurance that I will personally champion their causes, guided by both their best interests and the highest ethical principles of my profession.
Individual attention & individualized problem solving
An effective litigator and counselor finds the right solution for each unique situation. Sometimes that solution is tenacious litigation from the trial court through the appeal. Sometimes a seemingly intractable dispute can be resolved with a few judicious telephone calls before the conflict spirals out of control.
Regardless of the details of your situation, you deserve a committed and conscientious ally who will fight on your behalf to minimize your stress and procure the best possible positive outcome.
Recognition from my peers
Each year since 2013, I have been named an Illinois Super Lawyer based on peer recognition and professional achievement. The Super Lawyers List recognizes no more than five percent of attorneys in each state.
As co-editor of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation Alternative Dispute Resolution website, I was proud when the ABA recognized our work with its Best Website of 2016 award.
Experience
Before starting my own firm in December 2021, I spent over 17 years as an associate and equity partner at the litigation boutique firm Novack and Macey LLP. There I had the great good fortune of practicing with and learning from some of Chicago's finest litigators.
A lawyer’s lawyer
I firmly believe in celebrating and advancing our profession, furthering its practice according to the profession’s highest principles, and working to foster and sustain a respectful, collegial, and collaborative disposition within our professional community.
I am proud of the formative educational institutions that nurtured my curiosity and my love of research, including The University of Chicago and the University of Illinois. I was grateful for the opportunity to return to the University of Illinois as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law, where I taught torts and products liability.
While at Novack and Macey, I co-authored Illinois Litigation Rules, a web application created by commercial litigators for commercial litigators. The app provides instant access to the most commonly invoked provisions of the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure and the Illinois Supreme Court Rules in an easy-to-use format.
In 2014, I founded Chicago Attorney Motorcyclists (CAM), a recreational group for attorneys who enjoy motorcycling and wish to network and socialize with other lawyers who share their enthusiasm. CAM is motorcycle agnostic. It does not matter what type of motorcycle you ride, as long as you’re dedicated to riding safely, with respect for your fellow CAM members and everyone with whom we share the road. I’ve had the pleasure of leading or participating in numerous rides, including a trip from Chicago to the Washington, D.C. area. (In case you’re interested, I currently ride a Harley Davidson Heritage Classic.) If you love to ride, contact me for more information about CAM.
